Believe & Achieve 10km

THE Believe & Achieve 10km proved to be a popular event for several Stubbies racing along the Southsea seafront.

Among them was John Blake, who finished 74th with a personal best time of 48min 8sec.

“It was quite a humid day, but otherwise not bad for running,” explained John. “It was a great warm up for the Great South Run as the terrain was the same - flat, thus the reason for a PB, I suspect.

“But it was still good as I am coming back from injury.”

Pete Waumsley from Plymouth-based Tamar Trotters led home a field of 282 runners in a time of 33min 45sec for an event which raised money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.

Mike Harper finished 10th in a time of 38.00 and Margie Pritchard was the first Stubbette to finish in 65th place overall with 47.35.

Georgie Wallis followed not too far behind Margie in 73rd position with 48.06. Gill Adamson clocked 1hr 7min 35sec for 235th place and Kelly Sunderland was just a few minutes adrift in 246th with 1:10.18
