NEW Stubby member, Jane Adlard, was among 305 competitions who took part in the AXLR 8 Tri event in Crowthorne, Berkshire.

It was Jane’s first attempt at a triathlon and she admitted afterwards that she had a ball at Wellington College.

“I had a fantastic time, and really enjoyed the whole experience,” said Jane.

The sprint event consisted of a 200m swim in the college pool, followed by a 17km bike ride around Crowthorne, Finchampstead and Wokingham, rounded off by a 5km run around the college grounds.

Jane finished in a time of 1hr 14min 46sec after taking 7min 16sec to complete the swim, 39.20 for the bike ride and 28.10 for the run and 188th overall.

“The race was really friendly, with excellent organisation,” added Jane. “I am now looking for the next one to compete in, and I’d like to attempt an open water swim tri this year.”

The race was won by Charles Pennington in a time of 47.08, and Katy Granville-Chapman was the leading lady in ninth place with 54.25.
