Awards Evening

Awards Evening

THERE was only one place to be last Friday night - and it wasn't doing the weekend shopping at Tesco's. It was the Alverbank Hotel in Alverstoke for the Stubbington Green Runners' awards evening.

The house full signs were put up ages ago as Stubbies took over the hotel's banqueting room, which had a bit of a bedouin tent theme to it.

Phil May and Gary Littlecott took control of the evening which saw the presentation of cheques to the Rainbow Centre and Kids from the proceeds of this year's Stubbington 10km Road Race.

Representatives of both charities attended the evening.

"Thank you to everyone who made the awards evening at the Alverbank Hotel a great success," said chairman Chris Hall.

"Michelle Simpson, Gary Littlecott, Phil May and Mike Bell made sure the evening went well and I hope everyone enjoyed it, although I think the waitress served me a pair of my old cross country studs instead of steak by mistake.

"The routine from Phil and Gary worked really well, especially the video of the new 10k course with contributions from Margie and Geraldine.

"Please tell me if you enjoyed the night or if there was anything we could improve for next year. Maybe I'll have less wine before giving out the awards."
