Abingdon Marathon
NOT even picking up a cold a couple of days before the event could deter Jane Adlard from running to a personal best at the Abingdon Marathon.
She sliced a handsome 23 minutes off her best time for the 26 miles with a mark of 4hrs 45min 44sec and 597th place (Vet 35, 57th).
“I was very happy with that,” said Jane. “Especially as I had been suffering with a bad cold until only a few days before and had thought about pulling out.
“I think Glen Street’s Thursday night training sessions must be paying off!
“Abingdon is such a great race, one of the best in terms of organisation and friendliness.”
Fellow Stubby Jon Henderson also took part in the Oxfordshire event to record an impressive time of 3:38.06, which is also believed to be a personal best. He finished 292nd overall.
A total of 647 runners took part in the Abingdon Marathon which was won by Yorkshireman Steve Neill from Pudsey & Bramley AC in 2:32.25. First lady was Samantha Amend from Handy Cross Runners who was 75th overall in 3:03.47.
