6.5 Special
WE'RE just days away from another Stubbington 6.5 Special.
This year’s race takes place on Friday, July 11th, meeting at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. The race is a very flat 11km run, that’s seven miles in old money, out and back from Wickham along the old railway line.
The track is suitable for road shoes and studs, there are very few muddy spots, according to organiser, Tim Crumpton. The start can be found on the north side of Wickham off Mill Lane.
That’s a short walk from Wickham Square, although there is plenty of parking in the cul-de-sac off Mill Lane, right by the start.
Afterwards, we will be retiring to the Cricketers Pub in Curdridge for some grub. The basket meals will be £6 per head, payable on the night.
To get to The Cricketers from Wickham Square, turn right at the southern end of the square onto the A334 towards Botley. Stay on the A334 which forks left after a mile.
After passing the Silverlake car parts outlet on the right-hand side, you climb a fairly steep hill and take a right into Lockhams Road, which is a leafy lane.
At the end of the road, there is a dangerous T-junction, that you’ll find The Cricketers pub right ahead of you.
See you there!
