Wnchester 10k
HE doesn't get any younger, but Alasdair Ewing keeps putting in the times and the performances.
While many Stubbies preferred an outing to the New Forest, the vet, who was wearing a sparkling pair of bright yellow shoes in the sunshine, preferred the roads around Winchester for the Winchester & District AC 10km, which was run in conjunction with the asthma charity, AAIR.
Alasdair won the Vet45 category with his seventh place in the race which started and finished at the River Park Leisure Centre. He finished seventh overall in a time of 35min 59sec, four minutes down on race winner, Toby Lambert from Alton Runners who clocked 31.31 - almost two minutes ahead of nearest challenger, Andy Greenleaf from Winchester & District AC.
Another Winchester athlete, Louise Damen, captured the women's title in fifth place with a time of 35min 00sec. Alasdair was just pipped by the second-placed lady, Amy Chalk from Bristol AC, who finished sixth overall in 35.56.
With the New Forest 10 selling out quickly, the Winchester race proved a popular attraction as 306 runners took part.
