Today's Runner, Manor Farm - 18th February 2007
ARROWS? I didn't even see the Indians!! Not so after the Today's Runner Cross Country Race at Manor Farm Country Park where the mysterious case of the turned around arrows became the main talking point of the day.
Despite somebody's extraordinary efforts to disrupt the race, by turning arrows around, the event, organised by Stubbington Green Runners, went off without much of a hitch.
Andy Lovell from the Portsmouth Tri Club had a large lead when he got to the offending arrow, but decided, wisely, to follow the course he knew from previous years.
From all of the evidence gathered so far, every other runner took the wrong course, but they all went the same way, so the results were not affected in any way (phew !).
A big thank you to all the marshalls who ensured the race ran smoothly. And another big thank you to Di McEwen and her catering team for putting on a good spread afterwards, which even included hot vegetable soup this year.
Also, many thanks to everyone that took the time to make those wonderful cakes - apparently they were excellent !!
And so to the results;
Farnham Runners ran away with both the mens and ladies races. Stubbington finished fourth in the men's race and an excellent second in the ladies race, only one point behind the winners. This gave Stubbington an overall second place behind the obvious winners, Farnham Runners.
