Today's Runner, Manor Farm
STUBBINGTON GREEN RUNNERS is looking forward to hosting the fifth round of the Today's Runner Winter Cross Country League in February.
The event takes place at 11am on Sunday, February 18th at Manor Farm Country Park near Bursledon, just off junction eight of the M27. The park is situated on Pylands Lane and there will be signposting to car parking.
There will be additional parking on the left hand side just up from the main car park. Toilets should be available but there are no showers. Access to the park is normally available from 9am.
We have been informed by the Park Ranger that the green immediately in front of the car park is OUT OF BOUNDS due to re-seeding. Runners should know that this area is not to be used for warming-up.
The start will therefore be on the track adjacent to the road, which leads to Manor Farm. It is a five minute walk from the car park.
The race will consists of approximately a 4.5 mile circuit over woodland paths, grass tracks and forest gravel footpaths which are not really suitable for spikes although studded shoes would be practical. Runners will also encounter a few narrow gaps, short wooden bridges and steps. The UK permit and Risk Assessment will be on display, but runners must be aware that they take part at their own risk.
Refreshments for the usual charge of £1 will be provided at the QEII Centre, which is located within the park.
Race co-ordinator, Glen Street, said: " The venue has been arranged courtesy of the park authorities.
"Whilst we do not run on any bridleways we will cross over several, so please be aware of any horse riders who may be around.
"The park is open to members of the public so we will undoubtedly encounter walkers with dogs, so again please be aware. Please ask your runners to show courtesy if they do encounter a non-runner on the course.
"I hope you all enjoy the run."
