Today's Runner, Farnham
Farnham is a long way to go for a cross country race on a cold and frosty Sunday morning, but Stubbington Green Runners are made of tough stuff, and 24 of them made the long trek North. And how well they were rewarded:
The ladies team finished 6th, which was a very good result as only three ladies could make the trip due to other commitments.
Annie Tomlinson (35th) and Gill Rose (34th) stepped up to the mark to support Penny Forse (10th) to complete the team, and if Annie hadn't gone over on her ankle the result could have been even better.
The men's team finished 2nd, only 3 points behind the winners, Farnham. This could also have been better if Mike Harper hadn't had to pull up with a sore calf when he was in 25th place, finishing 107th.
Notable mens performances were Andy Simpson's 2nd place and a very good 16th place on his debut from Martin Stockley.
Overall, what does that mean ?
well on the day we finished 2nd behind Farnham Runners. This does mean that we are still equal first with them, as each team is allowed to drop their worst result.
The next race will take place on 6th January 2008 at Roget Common and will be hosted by Liss Runners.
