Summer Cross Country
FRESH from doing his Julie Andrews bit on the Welsh Hills, Graham "Climb Every Mountain" James found the more sedate slopes around the Queen Elizabeth Country Park to his liking.
Graham, who last month distinguished himself with 17th place at the Welsh Peaks Race, placed 12th at the Portsmouth Joggers' Summer Cross Country.
It was wet and muddy on the course, similar to the one used to stage the Today's Runner cross country.
Chichester Runners' James Baker somewhat predictably ran out a convincing winner by almost a minute in 27min 53sec from Denmead Striders' Nick Baker. Graham clocked 33.53 for his 13th place.
New cross country captain, Tim Crumpton, led by example with 17th spot in 34.11, and Jon Leigh lapped up the conditions for 25th place with a time of 35.24.
Penny Forse was the first Stubbington lady in the race with 44th overall and eighth in the ladies event with a time of 37.19. Denmead's Karrie Blake, who was eighth overall, won the ladies event in 33.04.
Other Stubbington results:
42nd Nick Kimber 37.16
56th James Lee 39.08
57th Andy Lee 39.14
78th John Tussler 41.12
