Stansted Slog
STUBBINGTON Green Runners were out in force in East Hampshire for the popular Stansted Slog and Slug.
It's two races based at Stansted House by Rowlands Castle - a 13-miler for the Slog and the Slug an eight-miler - set amongst Stansted Forest and Chalton Down. Both races are organised by Portsmouth Joggers.
Zippy Grice won the shorter Slug for the second year in a row. He won the race by more than a minute in a time of 50min 22sec, from Denmead Striders' Julian Manning who clocked 51.37. Zippy captured the Slog trophy much quicker than a year ago when he won in 52.51.
Teenager Lloyd Exley, fresh from turning out for the club at the Test Way Relay, placed 22nd in 1hr 9min 22sec, and John Vose was 50th in 1:16.47.

There were 119 runners for the Slug, and the women's race was won by Southampton Running Club's Karen Rushton in 57:09.
A year ago Alasdair Ewing finished sixth in the Slog, but on Sunday the Stubby veteran placed third in a time of 1hr 24min 45sec, almost five minutes faster than 12 months ago. The winner once again was Denmead Striders' Nick Baker in 1:20.57 - seven seconds slower than he won the race last year.
Chris Hall and newcomer Paul Hayes ensured the club placed three runners in the top 10 with Chris seventh in 1:27.02 and Paul eighth in 1:27.29.
Ray Gunner chipped in with 13th in 1:30.52 and John Exley was 22nd in 1:34.48 - just behind female winner, Sally Gilbert from Team Southampton who won for the second year running, this time in 1:33.28.
Stubbington's Susie MacGregor was the fifth lady runner with 1:44.52 and 59th overall among a field of 194 runners.
