Somerley 10km
IT was foggy and it was cold, but that didn't prevent Zippy Grice from finding his way to second place at the Somerley 10km race near Ringwood.
The race, which raised an estimated £4,500 for the Wessex Autistic Society, consisted of two laps arond Somerley House on tracks around the estate.
Zippy finished second in a time of 35min 19sec, over a minute behind race winner Lee Piercy, who clocked 33.57. Winchester & District AC's Kath Bailey, winner of the Pub-to-Pub race at Horndean a few days earlier, won the women's race in 37.41 for sixth overall.
Jon Leigh was the next Stubby home in 48th with 43.29, followed by Keith Carter in 90th with 46.27, Richard Simms in 108th with 47.14, Marcus Lee who clocked 49.00 for 141st (?), Helen Grice with 51.36 for 197th, and Aitken Hunter in 226th in 53.14. A total of 414 runners took part.
