Battle of Sedgemoor 10k
THE BATTLE of Sedgemoor was the last pitched battle on English soil and every year Langport Runners in Somerset host a 10km race - the Battle of Sedgemoor 10km.
Stubbington trio of Caroline and Graham Watts, plus Dave King, took part in the race on a hot and humid day in the west country.
The race starts from Langport and heads out into the countryside. Apart from the start out of town which is slightly uphill, the race is relatively flat, winding its way on some narrow country roads before heading back into town.
The Watts, who are now living near Yeovil, have been packing in the races recently, including the odd triathlon.
Graham finished 243rd in a time of 53min 29sec, and Caroline, cheered on by her family at the end, including son Hayden who took part in the fun run, placed 333rd in 1hr and 47 seconds.
Dave, who ran pushing his 10-year-old son Ross in a sports stroller, placed 202nd in 50.51.
The race was won by Mark Jenkin from Bideford Athletic in Devon with a time of 32.31. The leading lady was unattached runner Eloise Pittwood in 37.38. A total of 377 runners took part.
