Stubbington Green Runners

RR10 Bishopstoke

THE penultimate round of the RR10 summer cross country series takes place next week at Stoke Park Woods in Bishopstoke near Eastleigh.

With the men's and women's individual titles already sewn up through our own Mark Le Gassick and Winchester's Kathy Bailey, it's now down to team placings and pride.

To count in the individual series you need to run six of the 10 RR10s, so you have this race on Wednesday, August 1st and the final round at IBM Hursley Park on August 15th to figure in the final standings.

The Stoke Park Woods race is hosted by Lordshill Road Runners with the start in the woods off Bodmin Road in Bishopstoke, starting at 7.30pm.

Once again, car parking will be available at nearby Stoke Park Junior School on Underwood Road and it is a two minute walk from the playground to the start. There are no changing or toilet facilities.

The race is a two-lap course about 4.7 miles long on a woodland track over an undulating course. Runners need to be careful with tree roots which could be a hazard on the course. Depending on weather conditions, the surface will be soft in places, so off-road shoes or studs are recommended.

It would be great to get a good Stubbington turn-out for the last two races. If you haven't run one before then they are great fun (!). Contact Mark Le Gassick on marklegass@sgrac.net if you would like to run on August 1st.
