Stubbington Green Runners

Tuesday/Thursday Training

HOW are your New Year's resolutions working out? Are you still managing to stick to them like a limpet with a grudge, or did the promises that you made back on 31st December disintegrate quicker than a Labour manifesto?

Well, the good news is that if you promised yourself that you would join the Tuesday and Thursday evening training sessions to give your running a much-needed boost, all is not lost. These sessions are designed specifically to help you increase your cardio vascular fitness, develop your leg strength, and improve your speed and speed endurance (your ability to run quickly over distance).

And, it really does work. After just a few of these high quality sessions, you'll definitely notice the difference to both your speed and your overall fitness. But don't just take my word for it - ask the club members who've recently benefited from regularly attending the Tuesday and Thursday sessions.

For example, Margie Pritchard has been attending the Thursday evening training sessions for a few months, and last month, at the Romsey 5, she smashed her 5-mile personal best by running under 40 minutes for the first time, in 39 minutes 15 seconds, and finishing as 7th M40.

And, as if smashing your PBs and unlocking your true running potential isn't enough, there's even more good news for you. Contrary to popular belief, the quality sessions aren't just for whippets and racing snakes, they're also ideal for those who've been running for a while, or who've done some running previously and are looking to improve and progress. It's also worth remembering that you don't have to do all of the repetitions on the schedule if you don't want to, you can do as many as you feel comfortable with.

So what are you waiting for? Get your New Year's resolutions back on track in February by joining us on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

On Tuesdays we meet at 6.30pm at the Crofton Community Centre, Stubbington, and on Thursdays at 7.00pm at the Locks Heath Sports and Social Club, just off Warsash Road. You can find the current training schedule here, and it's also on the back page of The Green Runner.
