Prestwold 10k
THE Prestwold 10km in Leicestershire claims to be one of the flattest 10kms in the country.
It is based on a disused wartime airfield just outside of Loughborough which is now used as a racing track for those rich enough and made enough to want to hire a Ferrari for the day and put the pedal to the metal.
Dave King and Liz Hall were considerably slower than the sports cars when they took to the Prestwold Hall track. It may be flat, but the course was dull as dishwater - just a meandering of tarmac and paths while dodging the showers.
Dave also took his nine-year-old son Ross for a stroll, pushing him around the course in a specially adapted racing buggy, and the gleesome threesome crossed the line in just under the hour mark in a time of 58min 15sec.
The course may have been dull, but a nice paperweight, a pack of cards and a fridge magnet provided the interesting post-race mementoes.
