Inter-Counties/UK X-Challenge, Nottingham
TEAM Forse goes from strength to strength, with three of Penny's charges running exceptionally well at the Inter-Counties/UK X-Challenge in Nottingham.
Becci Gough ran extremely well for fourth place in the 5km under-17 race and was the first Hampshire scorer.
This excellent run gave the Stubbington-based teenager second place in the UK X-Challenge rankings. Georgina Gough was 18th in the under-17s and was the third Hampshire scorer.
"George has another year in this age group and ran her best race of the season so far," said Penny. "Hampshire won the under-17's women's team trophy."
Another of Penny's runners, Hayley Pointer, was 24th in the 6km under-20 event to count as the third Hampshire scorer. "Hayley has two more years in this age group so the future looks very good for her," added Penny, who was delighted that the under-20s and Hampshire's senior ladies won the team trophy, making it a great day for the county.
Becci will be running in the National Cross Country Championships in Sunderland on March 10 and then all three athletes will be contesting the English Schools Cross Country Championships in Leeds on March 24.
