Newport to Ryde
LOUISE James had a good Easter with an eighth place finish at the Newport to Ryde seven-mile road race.
The Stubbington runner clocked a useful time of 59min 41sec for the distance to place 44th overall. Louise was one of two Stubbies taking part.
He may be running as a Vet 70, but there's no holding back the irrepressible Gilbert Yeates. He also took part in the Ryde Harriers organised race which attracted 66 runners, and came home just beind Louise in 47th with 1hr 00min 39sec.
The race was won by Paul Cameron from West Wight Road Runners in 38min 14sec, and Katy Moore from Brighton & Hove AC claimed ladies' honours, 18th overall in 48.13.
