Mugs Game 5

THE countdown is on to the Mug's Game 5 which take place this Saturday.

Already more than 100 runners have entered for the 4.5-mile multi-terrain race around Itchen Valley Country Park at West End, near Eastleigh, with many more expected to enter on the day.

The race is being organised by Stubby, Dave King, with the help of several club members including Nick and Helen Kimber, Paul and Marj Hammond and Liz Hall.

It is being held in aid of the Hampshire Autistic Society, and is part of an afternoon of fun at the park which includes a traditional school fete and an old style school sports day.

The race itself starts at 6pm and there will be a 2km children's race from 5.15pm.

"There will be entries on the day, and I know there has been a lot of interest in the race," said Dave. "I guess a lot of people are keeping one eye on the weather and will decide on the day, but it should be a lot of fun and it will be a good family day out."

The race has attracted some good quality runners, including Chichester's James Baker, but the race is also about running for run in aid of charity. Click here for list of runners.
