Stubbington Green Runners

Milford 5

PAUL Hammond and Richard Simms mingled with half-term holidaymakers for a sunshine run in the New Forest.

The Stubbies took part in the Milford & Keyhaven five-mile race which attracted a field of 181 runners drawn mainly from local clubs.

The unusually mild and still conditions resulted in many competitors going home with personal best times on a course that offered a testing climb from two to three miles after rounding Keyhaven harbour, although the downhill finish to Milford Green always encourages faster times.

Paul is getting back to full fitness and he finished in 45th place at just under seven minute mile pace with a time of 34min 26sec.

A minute behind Paul was Richard who was 50th in 35.28.

Lee Rodriguez, recent winner of the New Forest Half Marathon and who is now competing for his new club, Poole Runners, won the race in 27.06.

Nicola Blandford from Southampton Running Club, won the women's race in 31.19 which earned her 20th place overall.  It completed a hat-trick of wins in the New Forest for the Southampton runner, who has already tasted victory in the Lymington RNLI 10k and the Everton 10k this year.
