Mel's Milers' 10km race - 1st April 2007
MEL'S Milers are a popular running club in West Sussex with a strong social side, and Stubbington's Gilbert Yates enjoyed their company when he took part in the Mel's Milers' 10km race.
The event was centred on Christ's Hospital in Horsham and attracted 209 runners.
Gilbert ran a very strong time of 48min 29sec for 86th place - not bad for a fella in the Vet70 category.
Pete O'Connell from Horsham Joggers won the race in a time of 34.54, while unattached runner Sarah Wigmore led home the ladies in 17th place with a time of 40 minutes dead.
Mel's Milers Jogging Club is based at the Bluecoat Sports Centre at Christ's Hospital where founder and coach, Melanie Marlow, offers coached running sessions two mornings a week.
