Today's Runner XC, Manor Farm Country Park - 18th February 2007 at 11am, Race 5
Stubbington Green Runners and A.C. welcome you to the 5th race in this season's series. It is to be held at the Manor Farm Country Park near Hamble. Maps are enclosed directing you to the race start and refreshment venue.
Directions:
The Manor Farm Country Park can be reached by leaving the M27 at Junction 8, heading towards Southampton, and taking the third exit at the roundabout. After about a quarter of a mile turn right into Pylands Lane and follow this road into the park where signposted parking can be found after about three quarters of a mile. There will be additional parking on the left hand side just up from the main car park. Toilets should be available but there are no showers. Access to the park is normally available from 09:00am.
Course:
We have been informed by the Park Ranger that the green immediately in front of the car park is OUT OF BOUNDS due to re-seeding. Please inform your members that this area is not to be used for warming-up etc. The start will therefore be on the track adjacent to the road which leads to Manor Farm. It is a 5 minute walk from the car park. The race is approximately a 4.5 mile circuit over woodland paths, grass tracks and forest gravel footpaths which are not really suitable for spikes although studded shoes would be practical. Runners will also encounter a few narrow gaps, short wooden bridges and steps. The UK permit and Risk Assessment will be on display but runners must be aware that they take part at their own risk.
Refreshments:
Refreshments for the usual charge of £1 will be provided at the QEII Centre which is located within the park.
The venue has been arranged courtesy of the park authorities. Whilst we do not run on any bridleways we will cross over several, so please be aware of any horse riders who may be around. The park is open to members of the public so we will undoubtedly encounter walkers with dogs, so again please be aware. Please ask your runners to show courtesy if they do encounter a non-runner on the course.
I hope you all enjoy the run.
Regards
