Injury Study
HOW do you fancy being a running guinea pig? A student at the University of Wales in Bangor is looking for injured athletes to help with a project which studies the effects that social support and stress have on an injured athlete.
Jennifer Hawtin is working with Professor Lew Hardy and Dr Anna Waters from the University of Wales. In particular, they are looking at the effects of different types of social support an injured athlete has and the different types of stress an injured athlete is under, and whether these will affect their mental well being.
Jennifer writes: "To collect the data for this study we need to get injured athletes to complete a 10 minutes questionnaire. The athlete can be of any level of experience, providing the injury takes them out of training for two weeks, for example a sprained ankle to a torn muscle.
"I was wondering if there were any members of your club that are injured and that would be willing to complete a questionnaire if I sent it to them?"
