Humber Half
IT is the fourth-largest single-span suspension bridge in the world. With a total length of 2.2kms, and perched almost 100 feet over the water, the Humber Bridge is an impressive sight and provides a formidable backdrop to the Humber Bridge Half Marathon.
Liz Hall and Dave King joined 1,137 runners for the eighth staging of the event which is organised by the Rotary Club of Hull.
Runners cross the bridge twice, starting on the north bank at Hessle in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and then heading south to North Lincolnshire, for a rambling run around Barton-upon-Humber.
Conditions were bright and sunny with the rain just about holding off until the end. The bridge had a gentle and steady incline for the first half, and there were a couple of stiff challenging hills in between.
Liz had a strong and steady run for a time of 2hrs 11min 47sec for 886th place, and Dave placed 356th in a time of 1:45.43.
