Hants XC, Prospect Park - 13th January 2007
A handful of Stubbie runners ventured out at Prospect Park in Reading for the latest round of the Hampshire Cross Country League.
While the rest of the club were sitting at home and getting ready for the Stubbington 10k, five men and three ladies turned out for the club.
The ladies managed to get a team out and were represented by the old stalwarts Penny Forse and Chris Haskell. The third runner was new girl Lou James who ran impressively on her first outing in Stubbie colours. The 1-2-3 was as follows Penny, closely followed by Lou and Chris who scored the vital points to bring the team home in 12th place.
The men were stripped down to the bare bones with injuries and guys saving themselves for our big race.
We managed a senior team who finished 8th and vets team who were 4th on the day. This leaves the senior team facing relegation in 9th place overall and needs then to beat Overton and the New Forest team to stay up in the last race.
The vets are sitting pretty in 3rd place overall and will probably finish in that spot. There is a very slim chance they could snatch 2nd place from Aldershot, if they had a mare at the last race!!
For the last race at Wimborne on Saturday 11th February, could we please have an excellent turnout of men and women and fingers crossed the senior men can stave-off relegation. Please let Andy Simpson know that you can race.
