Fleet Half, 11th March 2007
MIKE Bainbridge had fun in the sun with a blistering run at the Asics Fleet Half Marathon.
He clocked an excellent time of 1hr 23min 04sec at the popular pre-London Marathon half which was graced by perfect Spring-like conditions.
Mike finished 82nd in the race which attracted 2,166 runners to Calthorpe Park, and where he was joined by nine other Stubbies.
The London Marathon training crew of Jon Leigh, Marcus Lee, Nick Kimber and Nick Davies finished close together.
Jon had another excellent run with 314th place on the ChampionChip timing with 1:34.24. Marcus Lee finished not too far outside his personal best with 1:36.27 and 382nd, while Nick Kimber recovered from an early bout of cramp to finish strongly in 404th with 1:37.21.
Nick Davies continues his London Marathon training at a pace with a time of 1:42.31 and 583rd place. Ian Street was running close to eight minute mile pace as he clocked 1:46.17 for 735th place, while Aitken Hunter came home in 1,132nd with 1:55.10, followed by the evergreen Gilbert Yeates finishing inside two hours with 1:58.01 and 1,249th.
For Stubbington's ladies, Julie Woodman and Anne Fairhurst flew the flag. Julie ran well for a time of 2:07.53, despite taking almost three minutes to cross the finish line for 1,556th, and Anne came home in 1,867th with 2:20.33.
