Stubbington Green Runners

Eastbourne Half

ROSS Lamport suffered an injury-riddled 2006, but has launched into 2007 with a superb result at the Eastbourne Half Marathon.

The Stubby runner finished fifth in East Sussex with an impressive time of 1hr 16min 36sec. This was a cracking run from Ross against a quality field, with the in-form James Baker from Chichester Runners bagging victory in 1:11.24.

A total of 879 runners took part in the race, which started at Princes Park and headed west along the sea front towards Beachy Head.

The field took in a scenic route through the Meads, back onto the Promenade passing the pier for the second time, before heading out on an eastbound section to Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne Marina, and then a final loop round the harbour, back along the Promenade to the finish in Princes Park.

Laura Burton from Brighton & Hove AC was the leading female runner in a time of 1:27.50 for 35th overall.
