Stubbington Green Runners

Dublin Marathon

Tracie Jarvis

SHE must be mad! Tracie Jarvis ran her first marathon earlier this year when she braved sweltering conditions to complete the Flora London Marathon.

At the weekend, Tracie headed over to Ireland with husband Neil, along with fellow Stubbies Caroline and Glen Street, to take part in the Adidas Dublin Marathon which was staged on Monday morning.

Tracie had a great run to clock a time of 4hrs 53min 37sec, having gone through the half marathon in 2:21.52. The time was good enough for 6,210th place.

Husband Neil crossed the finish line almost an hour earlier with a very good sub-four time of 3hrs 54min 25sec for 2,883rd position, having gone through half way in 1:56.40.

Another Stubbington husband and wife team who took part were Glen and Caroline. Glen had an excellent run, storming through the 13-mile mark in 1:54.08, and finishing just a few minutes ahead of Neil in 3:50.55 for 2,334th.

Caroline ran with Tracie through the streets of Dublin and crossed the finish line just a few seconds ahead of her Stubbington colleague for a chip time of 4:53.15 and 6,195th.

A total of 8,380 runners from 52 countries took part in the 27th running of the race.

The race started at Baggot Street and finished in Merrion Square West, both near the city centre. The route passed through many of Dublin's most historic Georgian streets, with Trinity College, Herbert Park, St Stephens Green and Phoenix Park among the highlights of a mainly flat single-lap course.
Aleksey Sokolov retained his title and set a new Dublin Marathon record time of 2:09:07. Fellow Russian and 2006 title holder, Alina Ivanova, also retained her title in the ladies race in a time of 2:29:20.

Tracie Jarvis has talked about running the Paris Marathon next Spring. The question is....will she make it a hat-trick?
