Stubbington Green Runners

Race Diary, November

THE Today's Runner cross country series starts in earnest in November.
If you're new to competitive running, or haven't indulged in cross country since those hazy school days, then the Today's Runner series is the perfect introduction.

Speedies need not apply for this race. There is a strict cut-off so that the sub 5:40 minute milers (men) and sub 6:15 minute milers (women) can have a Sunday morning lie-in. The races attract a huge spread of abilities, and the atmosphere is fun and friendly.

The first Today's Runner event takes place on Sunday, November 11th at the Queen Elizabeth Cross Country Park, just off the A3 by Petersfield. The race gets under way at 11am.

The Today's Runner event is one of a number of races listed in the threadbare November diary. For some reason there are fewer races during the month. The Hayling 10, which tends to take place on the last Sunday of the month has been cancelled because of problems over policing for the 10-miler.

The Gosport Half Marathon has also had to move dates to November 25th, which is when the Hayling race was originally scheduled to take place. This was because of a clash of dates at Bay House School in Gosport where the event starts and finishes.

The Gosport Half is a two-lapper, but an enjoyable race which forms part of the Hampshire Road Race League.
