Race Diary, August
AUGUST is traditionally a quiet time of year for racing, but though the number of races is sparse on the ground, there are still some quality events to look out for.
Two half marathons worth noting are the hilly, but popular Isle of Wight Half on Sunday, August 19th which is organised by Ryde Harriers. You can take the hovercraft or fast Cat across to the island from Portsmouth, and then there is a train to Sandown Station where the race takes place.
Another goodie in the heart of Thomas Hardey country is the Sturminster Newton Half Marathon on Sunday, August 5th in Dorset. Fantastic countryside with the finish passing the novelist's former home by the recreation ground.
There are two RR10s to get your teeth into at Stoke Park Wood in Bishopstoke near Eastleigh on Wednesday, August 1st (7.30pm) and then the finale at IBM's Hursley Park headquarters on Wednesday, August 15th (7.15pm).
