April Race Diary

WHILE for some runners the focus of their attention in April is the Flora London Marathon, for most there is more to life than slogging your guts over 26 miles.

In fact, there are a welter of races to choose from, including some favourites in Hampshire.

The Marwell Zoo 10km on April 29th is a fun race, though Owslebury Hill is a tough slog, and you can always visit the baboons afterwards.

The Totton 10km acts as an early climax to the Hampshire Road Race League season on April 15th, and if you are looking for something a little more challenging close to home, then why not give the Combe Gibbet to Overton 16-mile cross country a try on April 1.

Also on April's Fools Day, one of the less heralded but still equally interesting runs is the Two Saints 10km around the streets of Southampton.

Not included in the schedule are the first races for the midweek RR10 series, which usually kicks off in Netley on the last Wednesday in April. Details of the RR10 programme of races will be announced soon.
