Cycle Challenge

AHARGGH me hearties! Shiver me timbers and hand me my cycle clips! Cap'n Glen Street and first mate Caroline are preparing to set out on a two-wheeled trek around France.

The husband and wife team are once again competing in the Wessex Heartbeat Cycle Challenge, which consists of pedalling over 500 miles in just three days in Burgundy, finishing in the town of Beaune.

Glen will be cycling for the Gresham Computing team who will be raising money for the Rainbow Centre in Fareham and for Wessex Heartbeat, and they are looking for sponsorship.

If you would like to sponsor Glen's team then you can visit their justgiving site on: www.justgiving.co.uk/greshamsburgundychallenge.

Just for a laugh - they are going to dress as pirates! Caroline will also be riding in the relay in her tenth event.

"I am part of yet another new team," said Caroline."I have joined up with three guys who have done the event a couple of times. I hadn't met them till last week but I have now spent at least one hour in the company of two of them and they seem quite pleasant.

"Our team of four will be raising money for good causes. Fifty per cent of our sponsorship will go to Wessex Heartbeat and this year we have selected the other half to go to TOFS. This charity is for Babies who are born without the ability to swallow.  These are two fantastic good causes who will both really appreciate your help." "The real challenge is cycling that distance in daylight hours as the days are shortening!"
