Cranleigh 21, 25th March 2007
CRANLEIGH - one of the last big races before the London Marathon, and Stubbington's band of long distance toilers ventured up towards Surrey for another series of impressive runs in their build-up to April 22.
Jon Leigh was the first Stubby home as he finished 125th in the 21-mile race with a time of 2hrs 44mins 48sec.
Nick Kimber sliced a few minutes off his time from 12 months ago with 2:46.21 and 137th for the Stubby running race number 8 - the Kimbernator obviously lacked any influence over race organisers to get hold of his usual race number 1!
Not far behind, by virtue of allowing the old men to get in first to put the kettle on, was Marcus Lee in 2:46.35 and 139th place. Nick Davies clearly had the same idea with a nice and steady 2:51.17 for 174th.
Also taking part was Lucy Simmons. Lucy has not run much for the club since the RR10s last summer, but she is back and running well with a time of 3:25.26 for 405th overall. This was in spite of starting half an hour behind the starting pack because she forgot to put her clocks forward. Lucy's unofficial time was 2:57.13.
A total of 474 runners took part in the event which was won by Andy Weir from the Thames Hare and Hounds Club who was the only runner to break two hours with a winning time of 1:58.51.
Emma Bradle from the Wimbledon Windmilers was the first lady to finish in 33rd overall with 2:23.09.
