Stubbington Green Runners

Coniston 14 - 24th March 2007

THE sun shone, the sky was blue, and the setting perfect for one of the most picturesque races in Britain - the Coniston 14.

Some 1,359 runners took part in this classic race in the Lake District, which features a 13.8-mile run around Coniston Water.

Dave King and Liz Hall took part in the race, which was a testing course with several interesting climbs. "This has to be one of the best races in Britain," said Dave.

"The weather was perfect, with bright sunshine, but just enough breeze to take the edge off the heat. The Lake District scenery, with the lake and the mountains, was simply out of this world.

"This is what racing is all about, and I would seriously recommend this race to anyone who is getting in a trough with their running. The feelgood factor is enormous."

Dave finished in 270th place with a time of 1hr 44min 37sec, while Liz came home in 1,093rd with 2:20.19 - and she had problems walking up and down the stairs at home afterwards!
