Brass Monkey
IT was Brass Monkey time in York, though the weather was reasonably kind for the popular Brass Monkey Half Marathon.
More than 1,000 runners took part in the race, which started and finished at York Racecourse.
The race promotes itself as one of the top half marathons in the country, and it is very popular - race entries were closed within a week of opening last September.
Dave King and Liz Hall flew the Stubbington flag in North Yorkshire. Dave, who spent most of last week in bed with a throat infection, was pleased with his time of 1hr 34min, while Liz was delighted with her time of 2hr 2min, which was faster than her time at the Gosport Half Marathon.
She trailed round with a group of ladies from the Leeds-based Dragons Running Club, while Dave tagged along with a runner from the wonderfully-named Idle AC, which is based in Bradford.
Next stop is the Not the Roman IX race in Stratford-upon-Avon this Sunday.
