Bramley 10 and 20 Cancelled

Cancelled

NEXT year's Bramley 10 and 20-mile road race has been cancelled.

The race was due to be staged on February 17th next year, and is part of the Hampshire Road Race League circuit. The 20-mile race, in particular, is popular for many runners gearing up for the London Marathon.

Reading Roadrunners have just announced the race's cancellation because of major roadworks which are currently taking place in Bramley, and which are not due to finish until March.

The main road which forms the first mile of the course is completely closed with traffic diverted through the country lanes which makes up the Bramley 10/20 route.

"Our main concern is for the safety of runners, marshals and residents of the village," said Carol Bowker, from the Reading Roadrunners. "All entries accepted to this date will be returned with a full refund. Please bear with us while we put this in place.

"We thank you for supporting this prestigious event in the past and we look forward to seeing you in 2009 when we will be back again in action."
