Braishfield 5 Beer Race
GRAHAM Bell hit the right note with 12th place at the Braishfield 5 Beer Race.
Organised by Romsey Road Runners, the event was greeted with gloriously sunny weather and 170 runners who took part.
Graham clocked a very respectable 31min 16sec for the distance, some five minutes down on winner Steve Rees-Jones from the Basingstoke & Mid Hants AC, who won in 26.24. Susan Sleath from Hardley Runners was the top lady in the race finishing 22nd in 33.35.
Tim Crumpton, who has been struggling with injury since just before the South Downs Way, hobbled his way round in 28th witn 34.03, and Marcus Lee continues to improve with his times recording a time of 34.42 for 35th spot. Trailing in Marcus's wake was Richard Simms in 43rd with 35.15 and Nick Davies in 47th with 36.18.
Margi Pritchard was Stubbington's lone lady competing, placing in 90th with 42.09.
The men's team of Graham, Tim and Marcus gave Stubbington fifth place in the team rankings behind winners Southampton Running Club.
