Stubbington Green Runners

Bournemouth Bay 10k - 1st April 2007

MARK Le Gassick was a comfortable winner at Sunday's Bournemouth Bay 10k, where a total of 859 runners turned out for the April Fool's day run, in conditions best described as cool, overcast, and breezy.

The race started at Pier Approach, and took runners east, for the first 5k, along the seafront, towards Southborne. The route then took a left, up the cliffs, via a series of steep zig-zags, and headed west towards Boscombe, before dropping back down onto the seafront and finishing back at Pier Approach.

Mark crossed the line in a time of 33 minutes 33 seconds, with Bournemouth AC's Rob McTaggart finishing second in 35 minutes, 50 seconds. Matthew Rushworth, unattached, was third in 36 minutes 16 seconds.

Andrea Hughes of Wells City Harriers was the winner in the ladies' race with a time of 38 minutes 41 seconds (13th overall). Denise Mellor of JP Morgan Chase, was second in 42 minutes 17 seconds, and Michelle Woodley, of Morpeth Harrriers, took third place in 43 minutes 45 seconds.
