Bananaman Chase
IT'S something many Stubbies have whispered quietly for a long time, but now there is photographic evidence that Dave King is a real 'nana.
The fruity one was captured on film dressed in a banana outfit at the weekend. The event was the Chiquita Bananaman Run in Milton Keynes in aid of Leukaemia Research.
Dave was one of 10 bananas chosen as pacer for around 400 runners on a 10km circuit around Willen Lake. Among the bananas was Tony Audenshaw who plays Bob Hope in ITV's Emmerdale. He's run sub-three hours for a marathon and clocked 1 hour 25 minutes at last weekend's Great North Run.
The bananas ran at varying pace from 45 minutes to an hour and 20 minutes, with the rest of the field tried to catch as many bananas as possible.
For the Stubby runner, he was given the task of running at 47 minute pace, which he managed, running a time of 47min 39sec. Some 16 runners past him along the way on a morning when the aim was to raise awareness of Leukaemia and to raise money for the cause.
