Cross Country
THERE'S a big double clash of races this Sunday - the day after the club's awards evening.
The Hayling 10 road race provides the latest round of the Hampshire Road Race League and has a 10am start at Hayling School. There are no entries on the day for this one.
Then in the afternoon, the Wessex Cross Country League takes place at St Gabriel's School in Newbury. "I know it's the next day after the big gala awards night, but you can have a lie-in and race in the afternoon," insists Muddy Boots guru, Andy Simpson.
The women's race starts at 2pm, and takes in a course of upto 7km. The starting klaxon for the men's race will be sounded at 2.15pm and stretches to upto 10km. If you can race, then please get in touch with Andy Simpson, whose e-mail address is: michelle.simpson@tiscali.co.uk
The Hampshire Cross Country Championships takes place at Basingstoke on Saturday, January 6th. "Anybody looking to enter will need to send me a cheque or cash," explained Andy. "It doesn't cost a fortune! I will let you know when I've got the entry form. Last year it was £3. "
I'm also getting ahead of myself and am looking for runners to compete in the Southern Cross Country Championships in Norfolk on January 27th and the National Cross Country Championships in Sunderland on March 10th. "We normally put on a minibus to get to these races which are free to enter and a good day out. We just ask for a contribution for towards the petrol costs. "I need to know in advance availability for these three races due to the closing dates being early December. So please email back on whether you would like to do these events and which ones."
