Tuesday and Thursday Evening Training Programmes
ARE you getting bored with those long runs and want to inject a bit of excitement into your training? Then why not get involved with the Tuesday and Thursday evening training programmes where you can really feel the need for speed!
The Tuesday and Thursday sessions are speed work sessions designed to improve your racing speed, and help increase your average tempo running speed too. By training with a group at fast speeds, over varied distances and times helps with your general aerobic fitness and in time you will see a improvement in your race speed.
For those involved in marathon training programmes, one speed session a week is important, and breaks up the repetition of the long runs. And for those targeting the rash of 10km races which are coming up this Spring, then the very varied speed sessions will help you to possibly find another gear.
The Tuesday sessions are held at the Crofton Community Centre in Stubbington from 6.30pm , and the Thursday sessions take place at the Locks Heath Sports and Social Club, off Warsash Road in Locks Heath with a 7pm start. These sessions tend to be somewhat longer, and include the formidable Titchfield roller coasters!
If you have not been to one of the speed sessions before, then ask one of the club members, or turn up on the night. You will be most welcome!
