4 Mile Time Trial
IT is a four-mile gut-wrenching slog. There are no medals, no crowds, no water stations - just the satisfaction of taking part in the monthly Stubbington Green Runner four-mile time trial.
The second four-mile time trial takes place on Tuesday, May 2nd at 6.30pm. Runners tend to congregate at the Crofton Recreation Centre, and then jog across to Eric Road for the start.
The route takes runners down Stubbington Lane and along the coast via Marine Parade West. They cut in on a zig-zag through Lee, before joining Manor Way and Broom Way, setting out on a course which skirts around HMS Daedalus. It's then a left turn at the main roundabout before heading along Gosport Road and back home to Stubbington, finishing in Eric Road.
Four miles, which the nippy guys complete in just over 20 minutes and which mere mortals take a little longer.
If you want to take part, then make a bee-line for Crofton Community Centre on May 2nd at 6.30pm which will be followed by a committee meeting for those involved. It's a good chance to monitor your speed during the summer. The time trials take place on the first Tuesday of every month through to September, same time - same place.
