Relays
WHO said running is an individual sport? Coming up in September are two big relays, and Stubbington are planning to enter both.
The Test Way Relay on Saturday, September 9th, is an old favourite. This year the club are hoping to enter three and possibly four teams in the event, which consists of nine legs from Inkpen Beacon on the Hampshire/Berkshire border, to a new finish of Eling Quay near Southampton.
Ladies' captain Chris Haskell has been busily organising both a ladies' and mixed team, whose race starts at 10.30am on the day. Men's captain Chris Hall is still looking for folk to take part. Last year, Stubbington's men's team finished second and a veteran's team fourth.
If you are interested in taking part, then contact either Chris Haskell on haskells@talktalk.net or Chris Hall on hally.pfc@ntlworld.com
Two weeks' later it is the turn of the South of England Athletics Associaton relays at the Rushmoor Arena in Aldershot. Stubbington is hoping to enter a team in the 4x6km veterans event which has categories for over-40s, over-50s and over-60s, which starts at 12.30pm on Saturday, September 23rd.
Then at 2.30pm there is the 6x6km senior relay. Anyone interested in taking part should get in touch with Chris Hall.
