Social Thingy
YOUR social committee needs you. Yes you! No, don't try to ignore this story and click your mouse to the next boring item about some boring race with some boring sweaty people, running la-di-dah times in la-di-dah places. This is serious stuff!!
Yes, the social committee, led by the Dastardly Duo of Michelle Simpson and Lesley Harding - don't ask which one is Dick Dastardly and which one is Mutley - with the Ant Hill Mob of Jenny Hearnden and Andy James, are trying to bring a bit of order to the Wacky Races which is the Stubbington social diary.
After the successful summer handicap evening last Friday, which was attended by about 20 members at the Locks Heath Sports and Social Club for the rambling five-mile run followed by a slap-up barbeque courtesy of Gary "Galloping Gourmet" Littlecott, the quest is on for more socials. The quest is also on to find out what happened to those burnt sausages and were they disposed of in an environmentally friendly skip?!!!
We've got the 6.05 Special at Wickham coming up on Friday, July 7th at Wickham with a 6.5 mile run which starts and finishes at the old railway station in Wickham. It should be a really fun evening, a run for all abilities. There's a 7pm start for that one followed by a social afterwards at the King's Head pub in Wickham Square.
There will be basket meals available on the night, but these do need to be pre-booked. Do get in touch with Chris Hall sharpish if you can make it as he would like to get a rough idea on numbers. Contact Chris at hally.pfc@ntlworld.com
And there are also plans this autumn to hold an awards evening. A dinner-dance presentation evening, probably around November time. More details soon.
But our Wacky Racers are also keen to hear what you would like to have organised for you socially. What sort of events would you attend? How often would you like these events to be staged? And do you have any particular ideas yourself? River swimming and mud wrestling is out!
Fill in the following form and ping it off to Michelle at michelle.simpson@tiscali.co.uk . If you prefer, cut and paste the questions onto an e-mail header, type in your replies and send it off to Michelle.
There are a lot of really good things happening at the club right now. New members are joining, there are some good ideas and initiatives happening, so be a part of Stubbington Green. Why not get involved now?
