RR 10 League
STUBBINGTON Green Runners & AC have been invited to join the RR10 league for 2006.
The RR10 league is a series of 10 races, organised by Hampshire-based clubs for their members, during the spring and summer months.
All races are off road, 4 to 5 miles long, with most being held at locations around Southampton .
Each fixture has a relaxed, social atmosphere with the standard of runners varying from 5-minute to 12-minute milers. There's no timing involved with individual and team results being based purely on finishing positions.
All races are on Wednesday evenings, with start times of 7.00pm, 7.15pm and 7.30pm.
The first fixture is on April 19th at the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, with a 7.00pm start time, and the last fixture is on 16 August at IBM Hursley, starting at 7.15pm.
SGR&AC has been allocated a maximum of 20 places per race and will co-host the sixth fixture, provisionally scheduled for June 21st, at Manor Farm Country Park , near Burseldon, with Eastleigh Running Club.
A full fixture list will be published shortly, but the venues include Nature Quest at Ashurst, the Rose Bowl at West End, Blackfield, Wilverley Inclosure in the New Forest, Itchen Valley Country Park and Stoney Cross, Stoke Park Woods at Bishopstoke, at IBM at Hursley.
We're hoping to field four teams of varying standards at each fixture - two mens' teams (five runners in each) and two ladies' teams (three runners in each).
If you would like to take part, please express your interest to a coach or committee member at any of the evening training sessions. Please be aware that you cannot simply turn up and run without arranging a place beforehand.
Alternatively, you can contact the club secretary, Mark Le Gassick on 01329 662352 marklegass@sgrac.net or Dave King on 01489 577610 Peekay63@aol.com.
Please note that if you have previously run the RR10 with another club as a second claim member, then you will need to run with Stubbington. Due to the popularity of the RR10 series, organisers are keen to keep the entry field within set limits, in order to cope with the course and ensure that there is sufficient parking.
