RR10
THE RR10 season kicks off at the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley next month.
Stubbington Green Runners has been invited to take part in this summer series for the first time, and already there has been a good level of interest shown from club members to take part.
Because the club is restricted to fielding just 20 runners for each event - except our host race which takes place at Manor Farm Country Park on June 21st when we, along with Eastleigh Running Club, have to step out of the race and provide marshalls instead - we will be selecting teams.
Teams for the Wednesday evening series consist of five men per team and three women per team, and if you would like to compete, then please contact either Mark Le Gassick at mlegass2003@yahoo.co.uk or Dave King at peekay63@aol.com to declare your interest.
The club is especially keen to encourage runners who do not normally compete to get involved, especially ladies.
The RR10 series is a friendly and very sociable event, with a very wide variety of standards, and is an ideal starter race for those who might have felt nervous or intimidated about racing.
Racing is a good marker for how well you are running, and the RR10 events are staged at some lovely offroad venues around Southampton and the New Forest .
The first two races are at Longdown, Nature Quest, in Ashurst - just the other side of Totton - because race organisers were unable to host a race at the Rose Bowl in West End .
In the main, races will be staged on a fortnightly basis on a Wednesday evening, but the reason for this back-to-back race is to shorten the length of the season, and to help shift workers to compete in some of the races.
So if you haven't raced before and would be interested in giving it a stab, then get in touch. Lifts to the races can be arranged so runners travel together.

JUNE 21st: MANOR FARM COUNTRY PARK , BURSLEDON (7.30pm) - this race Stubbington marshals jointly with Eastleigh Running Club .
July 5th: Itchen Valley Country Park , West End (7.30pm).
July 19th: Janes Pond, Stoney Cross (7.30pm).
August 2nd: Stoke Park Wood, Bishopstoke (7.30pm).
August 16th: IBM site, Hursley Park (7.15pm).
