Nina Perry
STUBBINGTON'S Nina Perry is no stranger to the BUPA Great South Run. She is about to clinch a hat-trick of taking part in the popular ten-mile road race taking place on Sunday.
The 31-year-old beauty therapist from Fareham, is running for the Breast Cancer Campaign and was inspired to race for the charity after a close member of her family was diagnosed.
Nina said: “Knowing someone so close in the family who has been affected by this disease and witnessing the excellent treatment, made me want to give something back and help the Breast Cancer Campaign continue to improve on the incredible research that has been carried out to date.”
The Great South Run takes place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year more than 41,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Campaign is the only charity that specialises in funding independent research into breast cancer throughout the UK.
Earlier diagnosis and better treatment have led to breast cancer mortality rates falling by 20 per cent since 1989. It is only with fund-raisers help that the Campaign can continue funding projects to try and reduce these statistics further.
Nina will be among the runners in the 18,000-strong field raising money for charity.
