Stubbington Green Runners

Moors Valley 10km, 14th May 2006

TIM Crumpton just missed out on ducking under the 40 minute mark when he took part in the Moors Valley 10km Race.

The bicycling handyman from Locks Heath has been running well this Spring after taking a large chunk of the winter off to spend more time with the family - and on his bike!

He has been in sparkling form in the RR10s, and while many Stubbington runners chose to hilly delights of the Alton 10, Tim chose to woodland of Moors Valley Country Park for a pleasant 10km through some picturesque forest.

Tim finished 18th overall in a time of 40min 14sec. He wasn't the first Stubby home, though. That honour fell to Ben Whittaker who came 12th in 39:28, while Rachel Whittaker came 112th in 51:21.

The race, which was organised by the Dorset Youth Marching Band, was won by Kyle Hachett from BSCCC in 33:38, and the top lady finisher was 15th-placed Cath Wheeler from Overton Harriers in a time of 39:42.

A total of 226 runners took part in the race which packed in a couple of inclines and took runners past the railway station, into the forest and back round the lake. The heat did take its toll, and one runner was taken poorly at the finish with dehydration and was taken away for treatment by ambulance as a precaution.
