Race Diary July
DON'T think about your holidays yet, surely you've got time to plan a few summer races. Check out the latest updates on our extensive race diary, including events across the south for July.
If you want to run the New Forest 10 on Sunday, July 9th, then you need to get in quick. There are no entries on the day, and the race limit tends to fill quickly.
Sensibly, the race organisers have moved the event, which starts and finishes at New Farm in Brockenhurst, away from the sometimes suicidal start time of 12.45pm, to a more pleasant 11.15am. The route itself picks its way through some of the most attractive parts of the forest, and for the finishers there is a lovely horse brass - makes a change from lousy t-shirts!
The RR10 series continues with races at Itchen Valley Country Park and also at Janesmoor Pond in Stoney Cross. We've picked out events from across the region, including the much-maligned London 10km Race on Sunday, July 2, which takes runners through the streets of the capital, starting at Picadilly, and finishing close to Downing Street along Whitehall.
One of the more unusually sounding races is the Maiden Castle Loop in Dorset. Based near Dorchester, this scenic race of about six and half miles covers the ancient tracks and roads of Maiden Castle. It takes place at 7pm on Saturday, July 5. The list includes full details of venues, contacts, prices and whether entries are taken on the day.
