The 27-year-old, who works as a doctor in London, but who still wears his Stubbington colours with pride, won the Henley Half Marathon on Sunday.
He won the event in an impressive time of 1hr 15min 36sec - more than a minute ahead of his nearest challeger, Mike Trees, who clocked 1:16.46.
Father, and long-standing Stubbington member, Peter Rawlins, was thrilled with his son's performance, pointing out that it was his first ever race victory.
John led home a field of 1,487 runners, with Claire Cann from the Surrey-based Hercules Wimbledon club claiming the ladies' prize, 42nd overall in 1:27.11.
The route started and finished at Henley Rugby Club and took in an undulating route which ran in parts along the banks of the River Thames,
